Our Daily Bread is hiring a
Director of Technology Projects

📍 Grand Rapids, MI

Position Summary:
The Director of Technology Projects is responsible for ensuring enterprise projects and initiatives are executed successfully and project goals are achieved. Has excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate the evaluation, selection, and prioritization of projects and initiatives with senior leaders. Reports on the overall health of portfolios, programs, and projects, tickets, work requests, and identifies issues and risks and creates mitigation plans. Establishes, matures, and maintains Project Management Office (PMO) best practices, including the establishment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure portfolio, program, and project success. Acts as project advisor to Project Managers and ensures adherence to project management best practices, including serving as the champion of the Project Management Center of Practice (COP).
 
Essential Functions:
  1. Proactively influence our culture, leading by example in demonstrating collaboration, empowerment, innovation, creativity, and service, while being a faithful witness on and off the job of Our Daily Bread Ministries (ODBM) mission to create compelling media that inspires and encourages our community members to have a meaningful relationship with Christ.
  2. Contribute to long term planning and vision implementation through identification of strategic business and technology initiatives, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and evaluation of results, while preserving ODBM’s reputation for integrity and excellence. 
  3. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Information Services (IS) Leadership team, and leadership at all levels across the organization to ensure the best delivery of Project Management Office services to the ministry, effectively translating strategy into operations via projects and initiatives.
  4. Provide leadership for the Project Management Office function and Project Managers, ensuring ministry wide collaboration and communication, facilitating appropriate resolution of issues, and competing priorities. Ensure alignment of IS initiatives with Ministry objectives.
  5. Serve as Champion of the professional project discipline and act as a trusted partner across the ministry to facilitate people, process, and technology change aligned to the strategic plan.
  6. Establish, mature, and maintain a Project Management Office so that the highest value strategic programs, projects, and initiatives are successfully implemented for the ministry.
  7. Establish and maintain project management methodologies, via a Center of Practice, so that Project Managers carry out their PM work in an optimized and consistent way.
  8. Provide oversight to multiple project managers (both employees and contractors) to ensure project work is executed to established PM standards and best practice.
  9. Manage work intake (ideas, projects, and change requests (CR’s) and prioritization for business and technology initiatives.
  10. Work with the CDTO, Technology, and Digital Marketing leaders to create annual budgets and track progress against them.
  11. Frame-up and execute high priority and ‘mission critical’ programs and projects.
  12. Manage stakeholder expectations across key project constraints including budget, time, quality, resources, and scope.
  13. Achieve results and build relationships across departments and teams.
  14. Apply excellent written and oral communication to inform and influence technical and business leaders.
  15. Think creatively to remove roadblocks and support the project team to achieve results.
  16. Evaluate complex problems and questions and break them down into manageable pieces of work.
  17. Provide strategic leadership, mentoring and developing a highly competent and responsive Project Management team, ensuring alignment of goals and ministry initiatives with ODBM’s mission. Foster a learning environment where training, risk management, operational best practices, and biblical values go hand in hand with creative and entrepreneurial solution that best fulfill the ministry’s mission.
  18. Demonstrate the qualities of a life-time learner in the disciplines relevant to effectively lead and perform job duties by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
  19. Actively participate and contribute to ministry wide initiatives and projects like daily Bible engagement, All Ministry Meetings, and weekly chapel. These initiatives, and others, are key components of the ministry, our culture and more fun to do together!
  20. Support and contribute to ministry endeavors by following employment policies and practices and supporting a safe and healthy work environment.  Specifically, follow ODBM’s Injury Prevention and Safety program, support and maintain safety standards, and participate in safety training.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Study or Knowledge or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Five years of experience in program and project management is beneficial.
  • Skilled in project management administrative and support software including, but not limited to MS Project, Asana, Monday.com, Wrike, etc.
  • PMP certification is a strong plus.
  • Strive to live a life consistent with biblical principles, engaged with the Bible on a consistent basis and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development. 

Internal Work Environment:
Develops, maintains, and improves communication channels among various teams and departments to ensure effective flow of information throughout the organization. Facilitates cross-functional collaboration and teamwork. Handles sensitive situations or controversial issues with tact, discretion, and sensitivity. Exhibits excellent judgment regarding the appropriate content and timing of communications. Creates and delivers major presentations for company-wide meetings, board meetings, and other high-level gatherings.
 
External Communication:
Establishes and maintains communication with vendors, partners, and other external stakeholders. Understands their needs, expectations, and requirements to foster positive and productive relationships and model Biblical principles.
 
Leadership Responsibility:
Provides leadership to project managers and work intake leaders. Grows staff though encouraging and timely mentorship.
 
Stewardship of Resources:
Capable of managing a staff of professionals and a team budget.
