Remote Frontend Engineer, Classroom

About This Role
As our Frontend Engineer, you'll be instrumental in crafting high-quality and meticulously tested web code for our Classroom platform. Operating within the React + Remix ecosystem, you'll dive into the codebase, contributing your expertise and creativity to enhance user experiences. Guided by a seasoned Lead Engineer, you'll receive mentorship to sharpen your skills and expand your understanding. Your role extends beyond coding; you'll actively engage with Design and Product teams to brainstorm, define, and implement innovative features and improvements.
You'll also collaborate with our QA team to ensure smooth sailing by swiftly identifying and resolving any issues that arise. Because we value a culture of teamwork, you'll collaborate with fellow engineers, fostering an environment of collective problem-solving and continuous growth. Additionally, you'll share in the responsibility of on-call duties, maintaining system stability and addressing emergencies promptly.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Craft high-quality and meticulously tested web code for the Classroom platform, operating within the React + Remix ecosystem.
- Receive mentorship from a seasoned Lead Engineer to sharpen skills and expand understanding of frontend development best practices.
- Contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of frontend features and enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, to identify and resolve issues
- Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, including on-call responsibilities.
- Foster a culture of teamwork by collaborating with fellow engineers, engaging in collective problem-solving, and promoting continuous growth.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience with modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- A solid understanding of the web platform and standards
- Ability to write cross-browser, cross-platform web code
- Ability to write clear, well-tested, and well-documented software
- React experience a plus
- Server-side experience a plus

Location: This role can be done from anywhere in the United States. Occasional travel to Portland, OR may be required.

Reporting to: Ellie Montgomery, Software Integration & Engineering Manager
Compensation:
- The annual salary range for this role is $90,000 to $114,000. Salary scales with experience directly related to this role.
