Senior Unity Engineer

We are looking for a self-starting, creative, driven, and results-focused Senior Unity Developer to join our team. If you're looking to make an impact and have the opportunity to work with a fun, collaborative team - we’d love to talk to you! The Senior Unity Developer will be focused on driving the Activities, Games, and Bonus content for our Faith-based children’s titles. Working directly with the Studio team, you will be responsible for driving the Engineering for ancillary content from prototype to the final result. With a passion for innovation and a keen eye for detail, the Senior Unity Developer will ensure that the games’ moment-to-moment and long-term play mechanics are fun, engaging, and
age-appropriate, that they adhere to our 4 Foundations and match or exceed the quality seen in the top interactive choices available on the app store...all while remaining on schedule and budget.

Location:
Our office is located in Austin, Texas. With Leadership approval, we also offer remote work

Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with the Content Team to develop and fine-tune Activities, Games, and Bonus content
  • Translate written and verbal requirements into compelling and engaging games.
  • Create new game mechanics and features and draft them into actionable specs
  • Work closely with the User Testing Team to develop, communicate, test, and iterate on gameplay mechanics and features
  • Identify and innovate opportunities to continually refine and improve the player experience
  • Implement new game features and services in close partnership with the content team of the project and with respect for the player’s comfort and the game’s performance
  • Improve existing game features based on design requests
  • Write technical design documents for milestones and internal use.
  • Analyze and deconstruct competitor products for insights into improving our games
  • Maintain or exceed a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work
  • Keep up on current interactive gaming offerings to ensure the team meets or exceeds the expectations of current consumers

Requirements:
Must-Have:
  • Success in designing and building digital game experiences used by children
  • Proven experience in rapid engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gameplay mechanics and systems
  • Experience and willingness to work collaboratively with Creative Directors, Engineers, and other Game and Level Designers
  • Ability to deconstruct and analyze mobile game competitors
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Production to scope, schedule, and deliver specs and game features in a timely manner
  • Familiarity with the Bible
  • Strong proficiency in game development tools and software (e.g., Unity, Unreal)
  • High Desire to Drive Organization to Deliver to Goal Commitments
  • Strong Detail orientation
  • Ability to articulate responsibilities and goals

    • Convey God’s Truth through exceptional, creative story-telling and gameplay

  • Development, testing, feedback, and iteration result in games that are inspirational, appealing, and successful
  • Game mechanics, features, and narrative all fit together in a simple and cohesive package to provide a compelling gameplay experience for children
  • Live player data & analytics are analyzed to continually refine and improve gameplay 

Professional Experience/Skills:
  • 4+ years of Unity Development experience for mobile games and/or apps aimed at a younger audience
  • Degree in Engineering, especially in the gaming field
  • Experience in prototyping and completing various gameplay mechanics, features, and systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively through design specs
  • Ability to manage time and work effectively and efficiently to produce deliverables in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
  • Proficiency in game design tools and engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal, Sketchup)
  • Up-to-date with the latest game trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Set an optimistic tone and promote communication and teamwork
  • Lead by example
