Remote Observability DevOps Specialist

The expected salary range for this position is $99,800.00 - $124,750.00. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. As an Observability DevOps Specialist, you will grow and mature our DevOps practices through people, process and technology. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making an eternal difference utilizing technology. You will manage our monitoring environment as it matures into a full Observability platform, while still mentoring our internal customers to pursue ever increasing value from this capability utilizing strong DevOps practices.  

What will you do?
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Matures DevOps disciplines and champions the lean agile mindset regarding issues such as Test Driven Development, flow, and systems thinking.
  • Continually improves integration of infrastructure build with application deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoots technical problems relating to information systems as they arise.
  • Analyzes, designs and evaluates automation scripts and systems.
  • Researches new technologies that will be efficient, effective, and highly scalable.
  • May coach and provide DevOps expertise to other professionals and support staff.

What do you bring?
  • Strong automation skills, eliminating manual work whenever possible, e.g., Infrastructure as code, pipelines, scripts
  • Extensive experience with tools managing logs, metrics, and traces, such as AWS Cloudwatch & X-Ray, Datadog or Splunk
  • Experience developing dashboards and reports for operational data
  • Strong Python development skills, particularly for operational purposes, e.g., scripts & AWS Lambda Functions
  • Linux and Windows management and automation experience, especially with SSM and/or Ansible
  • Experience with AWS Serverless and Container workloads, including Lambda, EKS / Kubernetes & ECS
  • Effective cross-functional leadership skills (verbal communication skills, strong collaboration skills, empathic)
  • Ability to collaborate with deployment/releasing teams on implementing best practices for observability
  • Firm understanding of Agile principles, Scrum, and/or Kanban
  • Self-directed learner, continually learning and improving
