Sales Director

This position will lead the Specialty Sales Team in creating and implementing strategic sales plans and growth objectives to expand our customer base and create perennial business with specialty retailers. The Sales Director will lead a team of two key account representatives to maximize growth in revenue, achieve sales goals, and secure new specialty retailers that will provide the greatest impact for long term results.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare sales strategies for current and new account base and help close sales to attain reveune goals.
  • Travel where and when necessary to meet with accounts to develop relationships and grow revenue.
  • Prospect potential new key accounts to generate additional revenue as budgeted by the VP of Sales. A current  target list of 500 retailers has already been identified.
  • Assess customer’s needs and present creative ideas and product solutions to meet those needs.
  • Forecasting all product needs within identified account base.
  • Develop strong intercompany relationships that leverage opportunities to close and increase sales to account base, most notably with the Cider Mill, Gift, and Childrens teams.
  • Monitor monthly sales and submit forecasts each week throughout the month while also noting key achievements.
  • Manage some key accounts where you may have personal relationships and assign other key accounts to internal team.

Qualifications

Work Experience:
  • 7 years of successful sales experience within the publishing industry. Two years experience in a leadership capacity preferred.
  • Specific key account level sales experience among specialty retailers strongly desired.
  • Any experience with custom product development is a plus.
 
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business/marketing or equivalent work experience preferred.
 
Industry Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of publishing industry, including the production/manufacturing process strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of industry best practices along with retail relationships among Specialty Retailers. With strong knowledge of special sales customer base and working relationships is ideal.

Skills:
  • Stellar sales performance through resourceful execution & persistence.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both in person, via video conferencing, and over the phone.
  • Ability to work with and lead/influence others in a team environment.
  • Works well across all channels to support sales, marketing, and publishing.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.  As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates.  The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
