Accounting Supervisor

CityTeam is looking for a financial professional who can immediately contribute to our Accounting and Finance Team. The Accounting Supervisor will be capable and experienced in accounting, including general accounting entries and account reconciliations. The Accounting Supervisor will also oversee and approve accounts payable transactions. Working behind the scenes at CityTeam is a calling, not just a job. The Accounting Supervisor will ensure good stewardship and protect the financial integrity of CityTeam. Our ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle conflict in a Christ-like manner, be capable of juggling multiple tasks, and have a servant’s heart.

The Accounting Supervisor is a 40-hour per week position, working at the organization’s headquarters in San Jose

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Review accounts payable transactions – invoices, check requests, expense reports, recurring payments.
  • Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and expenses
  • Ensure that all payment remittances are properly approved and coded
  • Approve bi-weekly check runs for non-utilities invoices
  • Approve weekly check runs for utilities invoices
  • Maintain and update utilities worksheet

Serve as manager of CityTeam’s debit card program including:
  • Managing debit cards, including activation and termination
  • Reviewing weekly transactions to ensure adequate documentation and proper coding
  • Submitting monthly transaction reports to manager(s) for approval
  • Finalizing monthly transactions for posting into the general ledger

Assist Accounting Manager with month-end close process including:
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned
  • Update monthly account reconciliations as assigned
  • Fixed Assets, Cash Receipts, and other
  • Support the annual audit process including preparation of audit confirmations and supporting schedules
  • Support the annual budget process, as requested.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Other accounting tasks including but not limited to charitable organization reporting, welfare exemption claims, property lease file management, insurance administration, and sales tax accrual and filings.

Required Education and Experience
  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years experience working in an Accounting department
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced MS Excel skills

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Non-Profit GAAP

  • Days and hours of work are typically in office Monday through Friday; 8 hour shifts

  • Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community with other Christ-followers
  • Must have compatible theology on major issues of CityTeam's Statement of Faith
  • Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ
