Business Intelligence Analyst (Power BI)

Description

Job Summary:
Hope Media Group has ambitious designs around our data that will require a creative BI Analyst. You could be involved in moving this Christian ministry forward in reaching more people with the hope that is only found in Christ. We need a BI Analyst who is a skilled technology innovator and loves problem solving. HMG is developing a Master Data strategy and CDP which you will be heavily involved in. Related to this, you will for managing Hope Media Group’s reporting assets and documenting technology solutions. We have a small Data Science team, but we are looking to grow as our ministry grows. The BI Analyst will serve as a business partner with Software Engineering, Donor, Finance, Marketing, and various other departments to design, build, and deploy analytic and reporting solutions. Hope Media Group the home of KSBJ, WayFM, Vida Unida and NGEN radio. This position resides in Houston, TX.

Essential Functions:
Analysis and Reporting
  • Design, build, implement, and publish visually appealing and functional reports and dashboards for multiple stakeholders across company. The primary BI tool at this time at HMG is Power BI.
  • Provide thought leadership around data visualization and storytelling.
  • Work with business users for continuous improvement of existing dashboards, reports and datasets.
  • Provide continuous improvement through the automation and streamlining report production.
  • Provide PowerBI subject matter expertise, support and training to teammates to enhance their skills towards enabling self-sufficiency 
  • Review data to determine operational impacts and needed actions; elevate issues, trends, areas for improvement and opportunities to management
  • Model data using MS Excel, DBForge, Access, SQL, JMP or other data warehouse and analytical tools.
  • Perform analysis on large amounts of CRM data and other data sources. 
  • Present data driven analytical solutions and recommendations to all levels of leadership.
  • Stay current with Power BI releases as well as other learning new analytical tools and methodologies.
Demonstrated Faith
  • Pray for coworkers in team meetings.
  • Use Christian principles to work through request requirements.
  • Participate in on-air fundraisers and pray for donors as needed.
  • Participate in ministry wide Christian bible studies.
  • Attend weekly Staff Gatherings for prayer and devotions.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business analytics area or closely related field (i.e., MIS, Marketing, Analytics, Business Intelligence, UI/UX)
Experience
  • 2+ years’ experience with Power BI, developing reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards.
  • 2+ years building measures and calculated columns using DAX.
  • Experience connecting, importing, shaping, and transforming data for consumption in PowerBI
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with an innate attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to provide great customer service in a remote team environment.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Power BI (DA-100).
  • Knowledge of programming language relevant to BI and analytics (SQL, Python, R, etc.)
  • Background in advanced analytics and/or data science.
  • Exposure to cloud-based solutions such as Power Platform and Redshirt.
  • Experience with data modeling and language M to clean and transform data. 
  • Basic understanding of agile development methodologies.
  • Heart for Christian ministry
  • Strong moral character
  • Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually grounded and working knowledge of scripture.
  • Must be an active member of a Bible believing local church
