Data Integration + Insights Engineer (Part-Time)

Do you enjoy the challenge of turning scattered data into something useful, meaningful, and clear? Are you comfortable writing queries, building scripts, and navigating multiple systems—but motivated by how your work ultimately serves people, not just numbers? Practicing the Way is looking for a part-time Data Integration & Insights Engineer to help us steward our data well, so we can better support churches, small groups, and individuals following the way of Jesus.

About the Role
The Data Integration & Insights Engineer helps us connect and make sense of the many streams of data that support our mission. From our PostgreSQL-based platform and Planning Center to Salesforce, this role brings together information from across the organization to create a clearer picture of how people are engaging with the practices of Jesus and how we can serve them more intentionally.

Whether it’s writing a complex SQL query, automating a monthly report, or building a dashboard that helps a team know who to follow up with, your work will help ensure that every team has the right information at the right time to care well for people and make thoughtful decisions.

This role requires someone who’s both technically capable and collaborative —someone who can navigate APIs and data models, but also enjoys partnering with others to solve real problems. You’ll work closely with the Pathways, Church Formation, Invitation, and Generosity & Prayer teams to turn raw data into meaningful insights.

A mix of problem-solving, and attention to detail is essential. You’ll need to move between writing clean scripts, troubleshooting bugs, and translating technical output into something accessible and actionable. You’ll collaborate often with our Technology Lead and other team leads to build trustworthy systems, maintain data health, and bring clarity to the work we’re doing across the organization.

This Role Collaborates Closely With:

The Technology Lead to shape system architecture, maintain data integrity, and manage integrations
Pathways, Church Formation, Invitation, and Generosity & Prayer teams to identify data needs and translate them into solutions
Leadership, to support strategic visibility and organization-wide decision-making
Salesforce admins and developers to improve the flow and accessibility of data across systems

What You’ll Do

Connect and organize data across systems

Write SQL queries to pull and structure data from our PostgreSQL database (churches, users, groups, SHR, Rule of Life, etc.)
Use JavaScript or similar scripting languages to call APIs gather data from systems like Planning Center and Salesforce
Build one-time or reusable scripts to process, filter, and merge data for reports, follow-up lists, or internal needs as they arise

Create clear reporting and visibility for teams

Build and maintain dashboards (Google Looker Studio, Salesforce, or Google Sheets) that surface meaningful data for the right teams
Automate recurring reports and metrics that help track participation, engagement, giving, or growth over time
Provide clean data exports or summaries to help teams send thank-yous, identify opportunities, and better care for people

Ensure quality and build trust in our data

Troubleshoot bugs and system limitations when things break or need refinement
Understand the data being gathered in order to judge the accuracy of queries, and respond to follow-up questions about the data from stakeholders
Maintain a clear and organized documentation trail so teammates can use the tools with confidence

About You

You’re rooted in Jesus

You arrange your life around being with Jesus, becoming like Him, and doing what He would do if He were you. You’re a committed part of a local church and affirm our Statement of Faith (as an integrated auxiliary of Bridgetown Church, we share a statement of faith).

You bring both technical skill and a heart to serve

3–5+ years of experience working with data, engineering, or analytics
Confident writing SQL and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL experience is a plus)
Comfortable using JavaScript, Python, or similar tools to build lightweight scripts and automate data work
Experience with Salesforce, or similar CMS / database
Familiar with data visualization and reporting tools like Google Looker Studio or Salesforce dashboards
Strong communication skills—you know how to translate technical details into clear takeaways for others
Familiarity with Planning Center is a plus
You work well independently, stay organized, and enjoy helping others solve real-world problems

Employment Type: Contract (Part-Time)
Time Commitment: 8–10 hours per week
Location: Fully Remote
Compensation: Hourly, $40 - $70/hour based on experience and fit for the role
