About the Job
The Director of Data and Analytics is responsible for managing and expanding the entire system lifecycle of reporting and analytics capabilities and will lead the modeling, quality, and delivery mechanisms of data maintained by the University. The director will manage a variety of data sources, conduct statistical analysis, and develop strategies to create actionable data that can be acted upon with confidence.
The Director of Data and Analytics is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the CIO/Assistant Vice President for Information Technology and serves as a member of the Information Technology (IT) leadership team. This hands-on position collaborates with leaders across divisions and departments to help guide the strategic use of data and analytics to support data-driven decision-making throughout the university. This position has the potential for fully remote work or a hybrid structure.
The Data and Analytics team plays a critical and strategic role within the University, providing the analytical framework, data architecture, application support, and tools for data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization.

We're looking for candidates who have:
- A bachelor’s degree in CIS, MIS, or Business Analysis or three to five years of equivalent experience is preferred.
- Higher education experience preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with complex relational databases, data management, data analysis, data warehouse architecture, visualization tools, business intelligence, and reporting query tools and solutions. (SQL, Tableau, Power BI, SSRS)
- Experience with star-schema dimensional modeling and enterprise data warehouse architecture to support data-driven decision-making.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, the ability to think strategically, and a track record in developing innovative solutions,
- Ability to adapt and respond to new data reporting requirements based on emerging needs, including ad hoc requests suitable to the needs of various stakeholders.
- Ability to work in an environment subject to tight deadlines and potentially changing or conflicting business needs and priorities.
- Ability to work as a team player and provide value-added critical thinking using independent judgment, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and data visualization skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and concisely.
- Must be able to manage, manipulate, monitor, and draw insights from data.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills.

The Director of Data and Analytics contributes to this mission by analyzing data that provides the framework for data-driven decisions to help the university be more efficient and effective.
Data Management
- Review and document use cases and requirements for transactional reports, summary reports, analytics capabilities, visualizations, and ad-hoc reporting.
- Maintain technical documentation of processes and procedures.
- Develop and manage the visualization and data delivery environment, ensuring key performance metrics are captured.
- Oversees database and data warehouse architecture, including design, maintenance, and long-range planning.
- Institute daily processes to monitor, investigate, and reconcile data integrity and quality between the ERP, CRM, and other disparate systems and the data warehouse.
- Seek opportunities to create and automate repeatable analyses or build streamlined data flows for business leaders. Continuously improve data analytics and insights capabilities and spread that knowledge and expertise throughout the organization.
- Perform other duties as required.
Data Analysis
- Develop and implement data analytics to improve operational efficiency in areas of strategic importance to the university.
- Explore and analyze data to find trends and correlations to enable data-influenced decision-making.
- Use data to support institutions' departments by creating and maintaining reports, analyzing data, and summarizing results.
- Build predictive models and machine learning algorithms to forecast business outcomes, identify risks, and uncover growth opportunities.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and correlations. Apply statistical techniques, data mining algorithms, and predictive modeling to extract meaningful insights.
- Perform other duties as required.
Supervision and Leadership
- Provides oversight and direction for data and analytics staff, overseeing professional development, performance evaluation, and training.
- Lead the team through the planning, designing, and delivering of data, insights, and reporting solutions.
- Provide strategy, vision, and mentoring to enhance performance and maximize the team's impact.
- Perform other duties as required.
External Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of regulatory data reports such as Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Colorado Department of Higher Ed (CDHE), and others.
- Assist with data preparation for external ranking surveys such as US News & World Report, Petersons, etc.
- Perform other duties as required.
Strategy and Innovation
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, leading practices in data analytics, emerging technologies, business, and market trends to support the implementation of innovative solutions (e.g., AI, predictive analytics, etc.)
- Review and recommend the use of new technologies, vendor services, tools, and software; keep abreast of relevant industry trends and determine applicability within the department.
- Identify, investigate, and incorporate AI and machine learning algorithms into analytics processes, enabling predictive modeling, pattern recognition, and prescriptive analytics to improve student success.
- Drive innovation in data and analytics by integrating AI-powered tools for data visualization, natural language processing (NLP), and augmented analytics.
- Establish ethical guidelines and principles for using AI in data and analytics, ensuring responsible and transparent practices.
- Continuously enhance skills in areas such as machine learning, data visualization, and statistical analysis.
- Perform other duties as required.
Work Environment
The successful candidate must be hands-on, creative, and able to multitask, develop priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing needs, and work well independently and collaboratively as they will support various data initiatives across functional areas of the university. While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. This position has the potential for fully remote work or a hybrid structure.

We offer competitive compensation and benefits packages to all employees. Our benefit package includes: a tuition waiver program, excellent healthcare, generous paid time off, matching 403(b) retirement plan, and additional organizational paid benefits and voluntary benefit offerings. Pay and benefits will be discussed in more detail as candidates progress through the interview process. The pay range for this job is $75,000 to $85,000 annually. Pay is assigned by reviewing a combination of job-related factors that may include: internal/external pay equity, the salary structure/pay grade, or a candidate’s qualifications/experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage and CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations. CCU does not determine pay based on sex or any other protected status.

- Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
- Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
- Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
- Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
