Saddleback Church is hiring a
Senior Graphic Designer

📍 Lake Forest, CA

The Saddleback Communications Team serves as the creative and marketing arm for Saddleback Church. What we do touches every aspect of our church. If you’ve had any experience with Saddleback Church, chances are your first point of exposure was with one of our graphics, marketing campaigns, social media posts, storytelling pieces, and translation work.

Are you a Lead Designer with a desire to work collaboratively with others to positively impact the world? Do you have a passion for leading artists, designers, and volunteers and orchestrating branding projects and marketing campaigns? Saddleback Church is looking for a full-time Senior Graphic Designer to grow with us as we build a learning environment, empower designers and creatives to solve problems, and find meaning and purpose in our work. 

Your responsibilities
  • Devise and deliver creative assets and assist in the implementation of major initiative marketing campaigns.
  • Own design projects from conception to launch, optimizing trends, tools, and technical know-how to maximize the impact of project outcomes for wide range of audiences.
  • Collaborate with team members and other leaders in defining and communicating the Saddleback brand that reflects and elevates the visual identity and core values of Saddleback Church.
  • Leverage opportunities to market content through social media, web, advertisements, and other platforms.
  • Ensure the design team meets weekly goals, production deadlines, and aims for optimizing art for usability and aesthetics. 

What you will do
  • You will lead, inspire and mentor designers while also recruiting, mobilizing, and training campus volunteer designers and interns.
  • You will oversee the development of design elements for custom creative assets and products that support the ministry of Saddleback Church.
  • You will plan and coordinate with product and project managers to balance design workload, manage priorities, and stay current on systems and processes.
  • You will foster and maintain effective relationships inside and outside the Communications Team.
  • You will collaborate with creative, strategic, print, and production teams in developing innovative design solutions from concept to production.
  • You will partner with photographers, videographers, storytellers, and other creatives to generate assets that maintain uniformity.
  • You will establish and maintain creative parameters and style guides covering use across various mediums including digital, print, and video for use by graphic designers, regional staff, and volunteers.
  • You will solve problems quickly to unblock other teams and be ready to tackle special projects, other team needs, research tasks, fact checking, and filling in where requested. 

Who you are
  • You have solid leadership experience managing design staff of varying skills and specialties.
  • You have earned a B.A. degree and/or have gained 5+ years’ experience in a graphic design-related field.
  • You can showcase a solid portfolio showcasing both creative design and art direction, including your past projects and general understanding of graphic design.
  • You have a keen eye for visual details and aesthetics.
  • You possess technical knowledge and high proficiency in all the creative suite applications.
  • You have gained professional knowledge of concept, layout, color, branding, and strategic design plus skills in visual design, information architecture, print standards, color theory and typography.
  • You have a collaborative willingness, proven communication skills, an ability to multitask and manage multiple calendar flows, and an optimistic and outgoing approach to working in an entrepreneurial work environment.
  • You are an out-of-the-box thinker with an eye to what is coming next and current on industry trends and technology.
  • You can work full-time in the office (this is a 100% on-site position, not a hybrid or a remote position).
 
Useful to have
  • You are familiar with still and video photography.
  • You understand Saddleback Church and its culture and values.
  • You have some experience in illustration, creative arts, editorial a plus

What we offer

Saddleback Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity, along with budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. Starting pay for this position is expected to be $80,000 to $85,000 per year.  A wage posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage for a job offer.
