Interested candidates must be willing and able to work onsite minimum 3 times per week in either or Orlando, FL or Melbourne, FL office.

The Job
The Sr. Network Engineer provides day-to-day, hands-on support to the network infrastructure, servers, virtualized environment, applications, and mobile devices. Responsibilities include: support of LAN/WAN operations between multiple sites and local site break/fix; software/hardware upgrades; patch management and application installs; and user support/training. This role interfaces directly with internal customers and various departments, troubleshooting user issues to resolution. It requires extensive, sometimes 24-7 customer interaction, and timely responsiveness to issues and questions. This person may direct the responsibilities and help prioritize the duties of the Tier I level Help Desk support team.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Establishes networking environment by designing network configuration, directing system installation, and defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
- Maintains a Cisco-centric network environment
- Configures and installs various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Monitors, troubleshoots, and escalates issues – particularly WAN/LAN connections - to the appropriate vendor
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Maintains organization’s current VMWare environment
- Maintains, monitors, and tests for disaster recovery
- Executes annual testing of disaster recovery
- Serves as lead technical advisor on disaster recovery planning and testing
- Reports on network operational status
- Contributes to the exercise and expression of Christian Care Ministry’s Christian beliefs
- All other duties as assigned
Essential Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of troubleshooting network procedures and best practices
- Experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis, and system architecture design
- Has demonstrated experience in the use of network analysis tools
- Experience with data center networking and networking technologies
- Experience managing internal or client-facing projects to completion and troubleshooting clients’ technical issues
- Detail-oriented, task-driven, with excellent communication skills
- Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to engage users in a professional manner and present technical concepts plainly to semi-technical customers
- Desires to learn new technologies and apply them to customer use cases
- Must be willing and able to work during and after-hours maintenance windows, which could include weekend and weekday after-hours work
- Must be willing to work with other engineers and collaborate effectively with them
- Must have experience with Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and strong Command-Line Interface (CLI) skills
- Knowledge of VXLAN and overlay networks.
- Willingness to work with alternative vendors outside of Cisco products
- Strong Cisco skills are required

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology-related field with 1-3 years’ experience OR 5-7 years’ experience in an IT environment for non-degreed applicants required
- Active CCNA required
- CCNP / CCIE strongly preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities, however this role may direct the responsibilities and help prioritize the duties of the Tier I level Help Desk support team
Travel
- Infrequent travel to our co-location in Las Vegas may be required
