Job Summary:
If you are a visionary leader with extensive experience in data management, product development and software engineering, this role could be for you. We are seeking a Chief of Technology who is passionate about Hope Media Group’s (HMG) mission and is adept at leading complex data and digital product initiatives. This person will be a seasoned leader and serve on the organization’s Senior Leadership Team with the CEO, COO, CFO, and other divisional leaders, and be instrumental in driving toward more than 500 million monthly experiences to help our audiences Love Jesus, Serve Others, and Spread Hope. 

Our software and data teams use AWS, Next.js, React, Json, Directus, Vercel, Github and Flight Control in their workflows, along with our responsive CRM, Virtuous.

Hope Media Group is the home of KSBJ, WayFM, Vida Unida and a variety of digital brands. This position resides in Houston, Texas.

Essential Functions
Leadership:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive software and information strategy that supports achieving organizational growth and innovation goals.
  • Oversee the strategic development of digital products, ensuring alignment with our mission to transform lives through technology.
  • Provide leadership, strategy, inspiration, and execution of digital initiatives to increase engagement and support for ministry impact.
  • Collaborate across divisions to achieve organizational goals and objectives while providing vision for technological growth and opportunities.
  • Own the product vision and roadmap, and communicate with fellow C-level staff, board members, and other stakeholders.
Strategic Data Management:
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a master data management strategy and an enterprise application architecture to ensure robust and scalable technology solutions.
  • Lead the data science team to provide swift and simple reporting that enables informed decision-making.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive data strategies aligned with the organization’s objectives and industry best practices for modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Donor, IT, Marketing, and Finance to understand data needs, address challenges, and support data-driven decision-making.
Revenue and Relationship Management:
  • Create and maintain relationships with technology partners and other stakeholders to support fundraising efforts for technological initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for monetization of digital platforms, enhancing the financial sustainability of the organization.
Operations:
  • Ensure efficient management of the data science and software development teams. 
  • Oversee budget preparation and expense management for related initiatives and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies, especially in regard to data management.
Demonstrated Faith:
  • Committed to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be spiritually grounded and biblically literate.
  • Comfortable praying for co-workers in team meetings, leading spoken prayer, and participating in ministry prayer meetings and Bible studies.
  • Lives by the Christian principles defined by the Ministry Statement of Faith.
  • Exhibits a strong moral character.
  • Is an active member of a Bible believing local church.
Non-Essential Functions:

Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.  
Experience:
  • A minimum 10 years in a leadership role within technology or IT departments, with a proven track record in digital product development and data management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Understanding of technology and information systems within a non-profit context.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong project management and planning skills.
  • Ability to align technological strategies with organizational mission and goals.
  • Experience with major IT systems, digital transformation, and product development.
  • Strong moral character and alignment with Christian values.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  •  None
Working Conditions and Environment

Travel:
  • Conferences, meetings, and technology partnerships (approximately 2-3 times/quarter)
Nights/Weekends/Holidays:
  • Occasional participation in events and ministry activities outside standard work hours.
