Sr. Systems Analyst, Product Development

Purpose and Scope:
The Sr. Systems Analyst, Product Development is primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, and building technical requirements for medium to large cross-divisional projects that cover the The Gideons International digital products. The Sr. Systems Analyst will focus on the efforts of defining the technical requirements needed in all phases of software development and systems integration projects.

This position will also be involved in the technical testing of all developed software and ensure adequate support documentation that is required for the organization.   This role will be working with internal and external technical development resources across multiple time zones and be seasoned in software product development.  Additionally, The Sr. Systems Analyst may be assigned projects not related to IT product development, thus a background in project management applications like TeamWork with 3 to 5 years successful experience. 

This position serves as a primary point of contact between the development teams and the business owners of the The Gideons International software products.  This position will work to facilitate progress and good coordination between all groups related to the business and technical requirements.  This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure missional alignment, maximize Information System investments and improve the execution of project related business initiatives supported by the Information Technology department. The Sr. Systems Analyst will work closely with the IT Development partners, Project Management team, and will report to the Product Development Manager, Information Technology.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop technical requirements for The Gideons International member and public facing digital products with an emphasis on the Gideon Bible App.
  • Develop system level documentation and supporting material for the support organization.
  • Assist development and business teams in adequate testing of enhancements and new systems. 
  • Assist in the resource estimates and schedules to meet the yearly development goals of the product development team.
  • Assist in preparing project Plans, design documents, requirements, issue and risk lists, change requests and other  key documentation for each project initiative as required.
  • Offer risk mitigation strategies and approach for applicable situations.
  • Assist, consult and coordinate various teams for definition of requests, requirements, specifications, approach, prioritization, and implementation.
  • Provide product testing models to ensure successful project deliverables. This may include coordinating to assure all testing efforts are performed for applicable projects. Models may include unit testing, load testing, end-to-end testing, and validation.
  • Collaborate with IT and development partners on projects that require coordinating across multiple divisions.
  • Assist the Project Management team to receive, record, and track all project requests in an accurate and clear manner for reporting to management and Executive Committee.
  • Participates in daily morning staff devotions; on a rotating basis serves by praying and reading Scripture in support of devotion leader

Reports To: Product Development Manager, Information Technology
Management Responsibility: None
Works Closely With: Senior Manager/Manager, IT Product Development and the Senior Leadership Team and Project Management team, IT, Stewardship, Membership Engagement

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent experience in business-related field for more than 5 years.
  • Experience in software development with the ability to create technical requirements, support documentation, and testing of new functionality and features.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall project methodologies and experience with Microsoft Project, Teamwork or other project management applications is preferred.
